If your child likes to participate in certain sports, including contact and some non-contact activities, then it is worth investing in a custom-made mouthguard.

This will provide maximum protection for their teeth and jaws, reducing the risk of a dental injury.

It is possible to buy ready-made mouthguards relatively cheaply, but this can be a false economy.

These mouthguards offer very little protection and can be uncomfortable to wear so they are far less likely to be used.

A custom-made mouthguard will be designed to offer maximum protection during your child’s chosen sports and it should be comfortable to wear and will not restrict breathing.

Poorly fitting mouthguards are also a choking hazard and should be avoided.

We will take an impression of your child’s mouth which is then sent to our dental laboratory for the mouthguard to be constructed to our exact design.

The mouthguard will be fitted on their next visit and will then be ready to use.

Your child’s teeth and jaws are still developing so it is important to bring the mouthguard with you to each appointment as we will need to check the fit of the mouthguard at regular intervals until they have finished growing.
